Untouchable, desirable... on the north side of the sky
A light in the dark, my star,
Only a cry away out in the space
Embraced by the night my star is blind.
Shows me the way, the way to escape:
Out of the night and into the night
Out of the night and into the night.
My star is out of reach
My star... there's one for each
Untouchable, desirable
(Spoken)
As I roam the empty night alone
I hear a baby cry
It echoes through the silent night
Yet the baby cannot speak, but aware she is
Somewhere far above there is a star that shines just for her,
to appear again and again
Grown up, she will know --
the night's exactly where she belongs
Everything inside the night is meant to make her feel at home
Safe enough to hide herself away and hold onto
And I whisper to her: 'Good night, sleep tight,
that's where we'll meet... some other time...' --
but now......
A new day is born, another hope forlorn
Another death to mourn on a blue summer morn
My star is gone and I'm left all alone
Sunlight torn I want to go home
(Spoken)
Mist -- merely a mask of beauty worn to conceal all ugliness walking the earth
Lamplight -- a fake reminder of something so far beyond the thick veil of clouds
Darkness -- a new beginning to one more story only to be disrupted by the weak light of dawn
Doubt -- a stillborn drive to survive, to move on towards a better time, a guiding hand, a promised land, an end, a death, a paradise, a hell
Well, off I go.....
Into the night out of the night
And into the night and out of the night
My star, I loved your cold stare
My star, I'm afraid of the day
So many words are left unsaid
A sackful of letters unread
Daylight uncovers things that I dread,
Daylight buries all that I dreamt.
My star, where are you now?
Untouchable, desirable,
I wonder, my star,
Who's touching you now?

To me, "Trip The Life Fantastic" was a must-buy on "Bandcamp Friday" this time. It's one of the few "Drifting Sun" albums not already found in my collection, and an essential one, because it marks the beginning of the prolific collaboration of composer/keyboardist Pat Sanders and lyricist/singer Peter Falconer, which was, in my opinion, the best creative pairing the band ever had.
